Bathroom Fun: There's an Octopus in my Bathtub

Well, sometimes it's nice to have a little fun with your guests/kids/in-laws. If Pirates of the Caribbean has regular showings at your house or you just happen to be fascinated with octopuses(by the way, the plural of octopus is octopuses, octopi or octopodes. Now you're also as smart as you are stylish.), these fun decals will certainly make bath time entertaining.

Too many times I see homeowners take very drastic steps to make kid's rooms and areas whimsical and kid-friendly. 35 bucks and you have tentacles coming out of the bath tub!? Worth it.

Better than just being $35, the decals are removable without pulling down sheetrock and studs. Once your kid or husband gets out of his "Yaaarrr Matey" phase the decal pulls off pretty easily and presto, you can hang up a nice print from some arty, more adult place.

But in the meantime, have some fun and surprise your little sailor. I think I want to name the octopus coming out of my bathtub. I think I will name mine Lois.

Go ahead, splurge and buy one or two are all of them. I'm now waiting for the version that comes out of the toilet!

Your Wallpaper Will Never Be This Cool

Everyone knows I LOVE wallpaper(any wall covering, really).

What really makes me happy is to see a wall covering that goes above and beyond(literally and figuratively) the limitations of the plain wall.

carnovsky is a design duo from Italy that has created some of the deepest and wildest wall coverings I've ever seen. Called RGB(you'll get in in a minute), the coverings are multi-leveled images in primary colors and then exposed to various light filters(like Red, Green and Blue) to show the true depth of the images.

This is an exhibition at Jaguarshoes in London and is completely rocking awesome... They really took a deep look at the jungle theme.

You can skip over to Jaguarshoes and even pick up some prints made for the occasion... It's all brilliant, don't you think?

Friday Find - Old Try

I love anything that oozes Southern.

Rarely does something so Southern exist so far north of the Mason/Dixon line, but that's where Old Try has set up shop and is creating some of the finest Southern heritage prints I've seen in a really long time.

Old Try is the brainchild of a transplanted Southern couple now in Massachusetts. They use a real letterpress with movable type and wood blocks for their prints, creating one-of-a-kind pieces with every move of the machine.

It's easy to see the depth of the colors and richness of the type- something typically lost with modern printing devices. (According  to the Old Try Blog, the grey and yellow from the print above were sampled from Confederate uniforms)

This would hang on my wall this second if I were an Ole Miss fan. Pure awesomeness.

Make sure that you scoot over to the Old Try site and look at the snippet of history behind each poster(learn something every day, right?). The Resurgens print is a throwback to the city of Atlanta and General Sherman.

And last(but certainly not least), the print that I am ordering and will hang somewhere in my world... Trying to decide between here at the shop or at home. The Alabama state flag with perhaps the most recognized words ever to be paired with our state's name.

The first time I saw this print it reminded me all over of how much I love where I live. Sure, we have our faults... But we eat better, talk slower(good for comprehension), and have prettier people than anywhere in the world. No matter where I go, this print would always sum up home for me. Pretty sweet, huh?

Now go over to their site and buy one(or all). The prints are 13" x 20" from all I can see and run $40(way cheap for a limited run, fine piece of art).
