Friday Find - Magic Glass

Still on my glass kick, Magic Glass from Russian firm Mauer Buro allows clear glass panels to go opaque... with magic, of course!

Well, not so much magic as it is smart technology. Using a standard light switch, a crystal polymer membrane is activated and changes the light transmission creating an opaque panel.

Thank about the options for something like this?! Obviously, room dividers and partitions, but what about bathroom shower stalls, full wall windows and walls between bedrooms and living spaces.

LOVE this stuff... Can't wait to see something like this on the common market!

Friday Find - ImagenGlass by Jockimo

I've warmed up to glass counters as an alternative to other solid surface materials. As always each has their pros and cons, but glass allows for some things that some other materials just don't.

This is ImagenGlass from Jockimo. What they've done is taken their glass slabs and used a photographic coloring on PET foil and laminated it inside the sheet. The results are breathtaking.

Notice the texture and transparency... it looks real!

Permanent pieces like this are sometimes frowned upon(I blame realtors) but the effect is quite dramatic. Imagine seeing the island backlit at night!

There is something very whimsical about the fruit kitchen... notice the light fixtures even. Think about it... the options are limitless!

Backsplash Basking: Glass

Thinking about doing something a bit edgy for your backsplash? Tired of the same old, same old?

Check out glass.

Most glass backsplash applications that I've seen do tend to be a bit more on the modern side, but traditional color options are out there.

Want to add a big splash of color?

Maybe you need a Honeysuckle backsplash...

Or if you can't decide on ONE color, do them all!

Just like any material, correct lighting can make or break the space. Glass can be lit from a variety of directions, though backlit creates some of the most dramatic results.

When you start shopping for your backsplash material, keep glass in mind. Think about ease of cleaning, smooth surface and limitless color options!

#ShowerWeek - Sprinz Shower Panels

There is rarely a better looking shower than one made from simple plate glass panels- it's a classic look that requires little "decorating" skill to achieve a designer room. Sometimes though, plain-jane glass just isn't the ticket. If you need something more, this is your dream shower situation.

Yup, it's a goldfish.
Sprinz is a fourth-generation family owned company that has been making glass products for residential and commercial applications since 1886. They are one of the few companies world-wide that does ceramic screen and digital printing.

Ceramic digital printing offers the ability to have the same image seen on both sides of the glass- Hey, it's art in the shower!

Shower in the bamboo jungle.

Here is my favorite-

Not sure that the shower could end up much better- good initial design, plus the personalized touch!

Here are two examples of Sprinz and their ceramic screen printing- offers a bit of different effect but equally impressive results.

Pretty neat, huh? Take a stroll over to their site and look at all the goodies- lots of inspiration over there!
