Wish List - Dorbracht Horizontal Shower

There's nothing better than a nice relaxing shower after a long day of work, cutting the lawn or just to de-stress after having a rough moment.

I love water. At more than one occasion I've considered installing one of those ADA-compliant shower seats in my shower just so I can sit down instead of falling down when I fall asleep for a moment.

The water wizards over at Dornbracht have figured out a magnificent new way for me to end up with shriveled fingers and toes. 

Yes friends... it's a horizontal shower.

Dornbracht touts their horizontal shower system that uses the Ambience Tuning Technique with six water bars as a tool to shower like never before.

The six water bars execute pre-programmed choreographed cycles that allow shower users to choose a program to fit the shower needs of the day. Some of the featured effects are Balancing, Energizing and De-Stressing.

So what do you think? I know that I'd be asleep in a matter of seconds, but it sure beats sitting in a tub!

Friday Find - Dreamfarm Temji

Dreamfarm is easily one of my favorite innovative companies. They're always coming out with something neat and new. The last time that I had Dreamfarm on the blog we were trying to drink from the sink...

This time, the creative folks at Dreamfarm have come up with a unique way to dial up the perfect shower temperature every time you're ready for the bath! This is the Temji!

Initially, I thought these would be awesome for me to have just because I'm half asleep during most morning showers anyway and the shock of a too hot or too cold shower isn't my preferred way to become mentally alert. The more I thought about this, the more I realized how awesome this is for kids and even more important for older people who may be more sensitive to temperature.

The cool little wraparound pieces are brightly colored(and in universal red for hot and blue for cold) with easy to read numbers. 

I couldn't be more impressed. Just another product from Dreamfarm to help make life a little bit easier.

Shower and Simmer?

More and more, small homes/apartments/condos are gaining appeal. Not only are they easier to maintain and can be significantly more cost effective, but smart designs even allow for all the amenities of a much larger home.

Now, there will always be a give and take... this apartment isn't quite what I would imagine as being very guest-friendly...

But hey, at least you can keep an eye on the dinner while your washing your hair... I don't imagine the shower came with the strategically placed steam.

Voyeuristic showers are not uncommon... one of the first things I thought of when I saw this shower was a post by our friend Bob Borson over at Life of an Architect. His shower has quite the view!

Obviously, it's a small space- I would have never guessed that placing the shower at the end of the kitchen would have been smart... Fortunately, there are a couple of ways to insure a bit of privacy if you desire.

Pocket doors are gifts from above and save TONS of space in a small home. I was tricked in to believing I would just have to shower in plain view of my stove.

I'll give it to the architects who designed the space, it's not like any other I've seen... And there's no doubt that the shower would be the chief conversation piece of the home. Better make sure you keep those panels clean!

Arkema Solar Showers

Summer(officially) is just one day away. Even though we have been sweltering in the hot Alabama sun for over a month now, there's no better time take a look at some outdoor plumbing options.

In recent years, there has been a shift toward outdoor showers, and not just for those with pools/spas. If you've never taken a shower outside(enclosed for privacy in areas where neighbors are close by), you're missing out. It's got to be one of the most cleansing(literally and emotionally) experiences I've had. It wouldn't be that hard for you to have one, too!

This is a solar powered shower by Arkema.

This Italian innovator has showers with various configurations that are destined to fit any space and serve any function. Whether just a quick rinse after a trip to the beach or a more permanent private set up, the simple and elegant design of the Arkema shower will fit right in any outdoor space. 

The water heating element is solar, but some models offer an electric water heating method as well.

On top of the eco-friendly and physical design aspect, Arkema even allows for special color choices. Make it your own!

#ShowerWeek - Sprinz Shower Panels

There is rarely a better looking shower than one made from simple plate glass panels- it's a classic look that requires little "decorating" skill to achieve a designer room. Sometimes though, plain-jane glass just isn't the ticket. If you need something more, this is your dream shower situation.

Yup, it's a goldfish.

Sprinz is a fourth-generation family owned company that has been making glass products for residential and commercial applications since 1886. They are one of the few companies world-wide that does ceramic screen and digital printing.

Ceramic digital printing offers the ability to have the same image seen on both sides of the glass- Hey, it's art in the shower!

Perhaps the most expensive of all shower systems, the SilverTag will set you back a cool $100K. See what you get for the price tag...

There's really no way to describe the computerized shower system without just directly quoting what it can do. According to TagSignature, the SilverTag shower offers a spa-shower experience with an 18-shower head, 6 zone water event.

Potential Experiences per TagSignature:

While it sounds and looks great, the SilverTag system is probably not for the eco-friendly- TagSignature says up front that a 5 minute sequence requires 230 gallons of water. Yikes. (A low-flow shower head uses approximately 2.5 gallons per minute)

Shower Week at Cupboards is here! 

This week we will take a look at some wild/expensive/bad/awesome bath spaces with rockin' showers- tag along! It's time to get inspired in the bathroom and this is the week to do it.

 Agape Design

The Snail was created by Italian Benedini Associati for Agape Design, featuring a transparent shell-shaped stall with entrances available from either right or left of the shower. It's unique design can be set free-standing or in a corner to accommodate a smaller space. 

Accessories like mirror, shelves, towel holders, etc. are hung from the side of the stall, preventing any permanent mounting.
