KWK Promes: Safe House

The older I get the more I like the idea of a compound. Before long, we'll have entire house plan books full of secure homes ready to build!

This house will certainly be on the cover of said book.

This house was designed by KWK Promes and is in Poland. The house is designed to literally open and close- electric motors control moving walls and shutters.

It's kind of fascinating to see it open and the closed... If we could get something like this rated for tornadoes, it'd be hugely popular in our area.

What do you think? Could you live here? Is it neighborhood friendly?

  1. Nick, I live next door to a compound we "affectionately" refer to as Stalag 13. It be UG-ly.

This home, on the other hand, looks quite bright and open when it's not closed (duh!). Nice design ... and when you go on vacation, lock her up.

As someone who recently got his first car with remote control door locks, I'd love to see that feature added to my house. This house seems an ideal candidate.

  2. Wow! I guess the closed position would come in handy keeping the in-laws out.

  3. Very cool and inovative house. I need one down here for hurricanes! This house could defiantly be neighborhood friendly just close that bad boy up when you want to throw a serious party.

  4. I think it is gorgeous, and since it would be "open" 99% of the time, pretty neighborhood-friendly. And I think it looks very anti-tornado/hurricane (and anti-zombie)!

  5. Arne- Not sure that I could have described it better than you just did!

Becky- In-laws, neighbors, solicitors... all kinds!

Jeremy- Seems like it might be quite good for "weathered" climates.

    Robin- Agree!

Jerod- Now all you need is the land to build it on!
