Faucet Love - Webert Arcobaleno

I love innovation. I also love when innovation allows for multiple users a different experience.

With the recent push for universal design and helping homeowners age gracefully in their homes, innovation has come in many shapes and in the case of the Webert Arcobaleno, colors.

The Arcobaleno is an LED faucet that shows(literally) users the temperature of the water they're about to use. For older and younger users(and me), it's a reminder of the water temperature so that one isn't accidentally burned or given a chill.

Take a look:

Obviously, blue is for cold and red is for hot. What makes the Arcobaleno unique is the ability of the LED to change with the temperature... What happens when you mix hot and cold? Purple!

The joystick adds a bit of whimsy to the otherwise modern faucet. Do you think you would use one in your house?

Faucet Love - Lacava Spiro

Few times will a faucet stop you in your tracks...

One of the newest releases from Lacava, the Spiro mimics a ribbon and would make any bathroom spectacular.

Available soon in the classic chrome finish, the Spiro will have models that are single-hole(like shown) or three-hole models and single-lever or double knob operation. Additionally, if the vessel look is your style, a wall mount Spiro will be perfect.

There's been quite a movement toward sculptural faucets and the Spiro is no different.

Blanco Design Council Appointment

Earlier this month I received a HUGE honor from BLANCO, nomination to their prestigious Design Council.

The Design Council is made up of heavy hitters in the kitchen and bath industry from all parts and wields a significant amount of influence among the design world.

I could not be more honored! 

BLANCO is recognized around the world as one of the top sink and faucet manufacturers. I've featured some of their products here on the blog and have a particular love for their positions on sustainability and responsible business practices. The Solon Compost System is one of my favorite kitchen products available!

Design Shuffle: 8 Kitchen Faucets We Love

We paired up on this post to bring you the coolest kitchen faucets around. Not to say we didn’t disagree, we did, but finally we compromised and got each of our favorites included. Hope you enjoy! With so many fantastic kitchen faucets on the market today, it was difficult to make a list of just eight kitchen faucets we love. We tried to find a range of faucets, both traditional and contemporary styles, that have different features and functionality to inspire some terrific kitchen design ideas. From farm house sink faucets to bold, colorful contemporary faucets, we are loving all of the faucets on the list.

Marvin Blog {via}

Love the oil rubbed bronze finish on this kitchen faucet, but love the function of it more. It is a Touch20 Technology faucet by Delta—one tap turns it on, another turns it off. Great for when you have sticky or dirty hands.

Not sure if the Danze Parma single-handle pre-rinse faucet will help us like doing the dishes more, but we do like the commercial style.

The Sunrise Kitchen Bridge faucet is a wall mounted classic with white porcelain levers. It has a wonderful vintage or antique feeling to the design.

We love the black finish on this traditional style single handle faucet by Danze. It also has a pull-out sprayer, a must have.

We're seeing more copper in the kitchen recently. Love the design of this faucet from Bello in an antique copper finish. Interior design idea: It would look perfect paired with a copper or porcelain farmhouse sink.

The Karbon kitchen faucet from Kohler is like moveable sculpture for your kitchen. High performance and high style combine to make this one very cool faucet for a modern or contemporary kitchen.

Tomboy Design {via}

This blue faucet caught our eye. By Italian design firm Zuchetti, the aqua blue is one of a handful of colors available. How fun!

Homes Garden Design {via}

The ultimate luxury in kitchen faucets to us is a a pot filler right above the stove. This transitional style pot filler from Fontaine is a great example of these utilitarian luxuries.

Trip-Planning KBIS 2011 - Brizo

It's no secret that Brizo is one of my favorite plumbing companies(and a Masco Brand to boot). 

It'd be silly to think I would be all up in their booth at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks. 

I was so sad to miss them at the show last year... They'll have to run me off this time!

Brizo at KBIS 2010

One of Brizos latest releases is the Solna Collection. According to Brizo, Solna is inspired by contemporary Scandinavian furniture and features a completely concealed pull down spray wand that also uses its VERY awesome MagneDock technology.

I can't wait to see what Brizo has in store for the show this year... constantly on the cutting edge of design, I really shouldn't be surprised when everything they display is significantly above-average.

Why all the gushing over Brizo? I have a Talo Touch(Thanks to the fine folks at Brizo) sitting very, very near my desk at Cupboards... it calls out to me almost daily to hurry up and install its rockin' self at my sink at home.

Friday Find - Mons Sink

Can't get your kid to wash their hands on a regular basis? Might be time to get creative with the lavatory!

Designer Romualdo Faura has designed a kid friendly sink that is both ergonomically designed(no sharp edges, either) and prevents and excessive splashing. 

The sink is made from a product called Duralmond- a combination of natural and synthetic resins along with crushed almond shells. Duralmond is biodegradable, recyclable, fire and water resistant, light-weight and allows for limitless design.

To save water, the Mons sink operates on a motion sensor water source, preventing accidental long-term water usage.

It's kind of scary looking(to me) and may not be perfect for your house- elementary schools across the nation should be scooping these up!

Nick in the City: Brizo and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Well, well... people will actually see me above the Mason/Dixon line. I've already packed sugar for my iced tea and shoes, real shoes!

All kidding aside, tomorrow I will leave for New York to join 19 designers/architects/bloggers from the United States and Canada for a jammed-packed few days of fashion and faucets(and other cool Brizo plumbing goodies). Brizo was kind enough to invite me and is footing the bill for the trip.

If you aren't familiar with Brizo, you're about to be.

I've often seen reference to Brizo as being "fashion-forward" from the design perspective of their plumbing fixtures- it only takes a few moments to see that each design is innovative and fresh. Each piece uniquely offers a new dynamic to the space where it is used. Even the advertisments reflect the design process each faucet or bath fixture exudes. 

Brizo began a partnership with fashion designer Jason Wu(You remember Michelle Obama's inaugural gown? That's the one.) a number of years ago, and the results have been nothing less than spectacular for each party. Whether fashion-inspired plumbing or the other way around, it's no stretch to see that fashion and luxury plumbing go hand in hand.

So while in New York, I'll be learning more about the popular Brizo brand, socializing with great folks from around the continent and seeing the Jason Wu runway show at Fashion Week. 

Most of you know that it'll be tough for me to be away from the showroom and even though I'll have home on the brain, the shop is in good hands...

Friday Find - Kallista Archeo Tub

Rarely can a single piece of furniture or fixture fit in to so many different design schemes. Kallista hit the nail on the head with the Archeo Copper Tub.

Who needs artwork in the bathroom when you have a tub like this? Quite the sight!

The Archeo tub has a 71-gallon capacity and is over 5 feet long, a perfectly accommodating soaking tub. Kallista's fine lavatory appointments and  products are sold through a showroom network- the Archeo tub starts at $68,968.

Move over McShower! - Porcher Soaking Tub

It's no secret that I am a huge fan of the McShower- you know, the monster showers where it appears a designer took primary inspiration on scale from a college football locker room. It's one of the few places I am all for "bigger is better". I've even said there is no use for a tub at all- just one big, run-around in(maybe even a snack bar?), huge shower.

Eh and then I was exposed to this Tetsu Soaking Tub from Porcher.

Holy Cow! This tub was officially moved to my "Dead Sexy" list of voluptuous plumbing fixtures I lust over.

Talk about a winner... My McShower just shrunk a few feet.
